ACCTS (also known as Love the World in China) attempts
to be culturally sensitive in its activities and, thus,
may vary in the programs that it does in each country.
ACCTS is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
In China, ACCTS' programs focus on building friendships,
trust, cooperation, and peaceful relationships. This
is done in three ways through:
1) Educational and cultural visits and exchanges
2) Development projects in a peasant village
3) Medical assistance projects
These social services programs are outlined further
below.
Educational/Cultural Visits
ACCTS has established a friendship and cultural
exchange program for young scholars from US universities.
In 1999 ACCTS was asked by its PRC hosts to bring young
scholars to China on a friendship and cultural introduction
basis. This is the fifth year of such friendship trips
to China.
ACCTS also works informally with the Center for China-USA
Cooperation of the University of Denver in a series
of workshops in Denver and Beijing on the topic of the
cultural and other imperatives on the formation of ethics
in the PRC and in the USA. The most recent of these
conferences was held at the University of Denver in
February 2004. As a part of this program, ACCTS has
also established an exchange program with the China
Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR)
in Beijing.
ACCTS previously has successfully assisted in the planning
and execution of international ethics symposia in several
countries. In November 1999 the first such academic
symposium was held in partnership with the Norwegian
government and more specifically, with the Royal Norwegian
Air force Academy in Trondheim. In March 2002 ACCTS
conducted the second international symposium with the
Latvian government in Riga. Delegates from 12 countries
participated. ACCTS has been invited to present another
international ethics symposium in Vilnus Lithuania in
2006. In addition ACCTS has assisted or conducted ethics
conferences and workshops for the governments of The
Netherlands (RMA, Breda), Ukraine (Humanitarian Academy,
Kiev) and Mongolia (Officers of the Ministry of Defense,
Ulaanbaatar).
ACCTS has also conducted an aviation history and cultural
exchange program with the Aviators Associations in China
and various American retired aviators associations.
Visits to China and USA have been conducted in 2003
and 2004. Another is planned in May 2005.
Development Projects
Over the last 5 years, in order to build peaceful
relations in China, ACCTS has sponsored several community
development projects in Beicun village in Shanxi Province.
These projects have included providing elementary school
books, computers, and the establishment of a Friendship
Library. The local leaders from the school district
and town now refer to Beicun village as good model to
other villages and schools.
Medical Assistance
In Order to develop friendships with China, ACCTS
has also provided educational assistance to PLA #451
Hospital in Xian and to Beicun village in Shanxi Province.
Several of these projects have been in cooperation with
the Beijing Aviators and other Aviators Associations
in China. Hospitals in Nanjing and Chengdu have also
requested these services in the future. This program
has also been sponsored by MSO, an NGO in the Republic
of Korea. Thus, the program mainly consists of American
and Korean doctors providing technical medical assistance.
