Congratulation on being selected as a participant on
the Interaction - RMH program. We can't wait to meet
you. This program will begin in Buena Vista, Colorado
at an altitude of 9,000 feet above sea-level; for that
reason you may wish to arrive one to two days earlier
in order to adjust to the altitude.
When you enter the USA you will be asked to fill out
a Form
I-94. You will be asked for an address while
in the United States. Please use this address: 7220
West Jefferson Ave. # 335. Lakewood, CO 80235. Phone:
(303) 985 - 8808. On the day of your arrival your Denver
host family will pick you up from Denver
International Airport (if you are making
your own travel arrangements please make sure that your
arrival airport to Colorado is Denver
International Airport). Your host family
will have a sign with your name on it. Depending on
your arrival day you might spend a day or two with your
host family in Denver. On Friday we will start the program
with a potluck dinner. The purpose of this informal
meeting is to get to know each other. On Saturday you
will be traveling to Spring
Canyon (a three hours drive) where you will
be staying for most of the program.
The first seven days of the program will include participation
in the Officers'
Christian Fellowship's (OCF) adventure program,
Rocky
Mountain High, which includes activities
in the mountains of Colorado. The next
phase of Interaction which starts on Saturday
will include leadership training, which aids in the
development of leadership skills in both the local military
fellowship and the military profession. You will leave
Spring Canyon on Wednesday. From there you will go to
Colorado Springs. There you will be visiting military
installations and be hosted in the homes of American
military Christians. In addition, you will have opportunities
to make brief informal presentations about your country,
armed forces, and your particular qualifications and
military experience. No discussion of classified material
will occur. The program ends with your return to your
Denver host family. They will take you to
the airport for your return flight home.
Following are some recommendation so you can fully
enjoy your stay here. We recommend that you bring clothing,
which is suitable for Rocky Mountain High, as per OCF's
instructions. Equipment for backpacking is
available to borrow. Don't forget to bring your hiking
boots. We can't emphasize enough the importance
of a good pair of comfortable, broken-in hiking shoes
or boots. We recommend footwear with ankle support as
you will be hiking over uneven terrain with backpacks.
Military boots are acceptable if they fit and are well
broken-in. As for the Interaction part of the program
we suggest that you bring casual clothing. Also remember
to bring the equivalent of a service dress uniform,
something that is lightweight. You will need that during
the visits at different military bases. We also encourage
you to bring a notebook, your Bible and your camera
if desired, and all prescription medicine as needed.
ACCTS is proving insurance
coverage for the duration of your visit here.
However the insurance doesn't cover dental expenses.
