  4. God’s Big Story: Building a Bible Habit with the Essential 100
Across America, 86 percent of U.S. households have at least one Bible, but 66 percent never or rarely read it. 80 percent of Christians will never read through the entire Bible- ever. Even more alarming, two out of three Christians aged 18 to 22 will abandon their faith during these critical years. These stats hold true for the Church in Uniform - biblical illiteracy is at crisis proportions among even self-identified Christians in the armed forces.

Military personnel and their families are under tremendous stress, and most Bible reading plans just don’t work for them. The Essential 100’s guided journey through 50 Old Testament and 50 New Testament stories has an 80 percent completion rate, as validated by the Barna Research Group. It’s the Bible engagement program people really can complete.

The E100 Chaplain’s Kit contains all the preaching / teaching tools needed to challenge servicemen and women to move through the Bible’s grand narrative and support their reading (and listening) experience of these 100 essential texts. Online sermon outlines, discussion guides and a handy planner for participants to track their progress day by day are just a few of the resources that lead to an understanding of the big sweep of Scripture, to positive attitudes toward regular Bible engagement, and ultimately to a regular habit of time in God’s Word, leading to Christ-like character for life.

  5. A Journey to Recovery from PTSD: Comfort and Hope from the Scriptures
Increasing numbers of returning troops are suffering from various degrees of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  These troops eventually join the ranks of hundreds of thousands of veterans from previous wars and current conflicts who suffer from PTSD.  The National Chaplains Center of the Department of Veterans Affairs has developed a Spiritual Injuries Scale (SIS) to evaluate the counseling needs of patients in their medical centers and clinics.  This SIS covers feelings of life without meaning, fairness or hope; issues of anger, guilt, despair and grief; and fear of death.

The American Bible Society engaged two VA chaplains to write about each of the eight spiritual injuries out of their daily experience with vets.  These eight booklets (Scripture Portions) include real life situations to set the stage and introduce each topic; Scripture passages that speak to the issues involved; compelling questions for reflection; and appropriate prayers.

Churches and individuals who minister to anyone suffering from PTSD will find this workshop and these Scripture Portions instructive and helpful.

  6. Come and discover Alpha for the Military.
Alpha is a course on Christianity designed to reach an unchurched generation of servicemembers. It is based on friendship, sound teaching, caring and sharing. Alpha will help you to explain Christianity to others in a purposeful, relevant and fun way.

  7. Spiritual Care for Combat Trauma
The wounds of war take many forms, including the spiritual and emotional impact of combat trauma.  There are tens of thousands of military members and families who are presently suffering from the impact of combat trauma.

Back to back deployments with repeated separations from loved ones, along with dangerous and traumatic experiences are leaving many of our military families with damaged lives and a great need for informed prayer and care.

“Bridges to Healing” is a spiritual approach to victory over combat trauma developed by Campus Crusade for Christ’s Military Ministry.  The goal is to provide churches with a strategy to bring God’s healing power to military members and their families who suffer from the effects of PTSD and related forms of combat trauma.

  8. Hope and Help for the Home Front
How are military wives going to win the emotional and spiritual battles they face continuously?  The demands on our military families are increasing with the lengthy and frequent deployments.  “Hope and Help for the Home Front” is a seminar designed to help and encourage families struggling with such issues.  Marshele Carter Waddell is the author of “Hope for the Home Front”, a excellent study that has been used effectively on many military installations.  Post Deployment is often a battle fought on the home front.  As the wife of a retired Navy SEAL, Marshele understands well the problems facing our military returning home from the war zone.  Doris Waldrop Mincks is well acquainted with the rigors of military life as the wife of retired military.  She is a counselor and director of “Wives of Warriors Worldwide”.Click on the following videos for more information.
